Dr. Farris and Dr. Lambeth presented on CHART's Repetitive Loss Strategy at the Association of State Floodplain Managers Conference in Phoenix, Arizona this month. The conference occurs annually, and focuses on all things floodplain management.

CHART's Assistant Director, Dr. Lambeth, is teaching a green infrastructure course this summer, offered in the Planning and Urban Studies Department. The course includes citywide fieldwork opportunities. On the first field work day, the class helped prepare materials for rain barrel construction, prepared a stormwater planter, and weeded a rain garden in the Treme neighborhood.

CHART Research Professor, Pamela Jenkins, served as both moderator and panelist in a session entitled “A Planning Model for the Future: LA-SAFE Moves Toward Implementation” along with Mathew Sanders (LA Office of Community and Development), Liz Williams Russell (Foundation for Louisiana), and Camille Manning-Broome (Center for Planning Excellence) at State of the Coast 2018.


Additionally, Assistant Director of CHART, Tara Lambeth, was the moderator of the panel “Indigenous Strategies in Response to Coastal Erosion and Climate Change Impacts” at State of the Coast 2018. The panel included Dr. Laura Kelley, Dr. Matthew Bethel, Chief Albert Naquin, and Professor Patty Ferguson-Bohnee, and detailed ways to protect tribal cultural heritage on a vanishing coast.
